School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering (Phase 2)

This academic building was built in two phases at YTU Davutpasa Campus. One of the main design considerations was to keep the new building height at a similar height to existing ‘military buildings’, currently in use as another academic function. Another consideration was the preservation of dense trees on the site. To respond to these design considerations, the new school’s vaulted metal roof was kept below the existing building’s roof line and central courtyards were shaped around the groups of existing trees. The school has academic offices, classrooms, laboratories, library, cafeteria and an underground garage.
